The other day, we had the first person to compete in our Sewing Challenge bring in her project. One of our sewing students, an amazing 14 year old, “L”, made this incredible bag. She has been sewing with us for a while but has been sewing even longer on her own. She came to Woolstock to learn technical sewing and pattern reading, as she was already great at creating her own patterns and finding the “hacks.”
L used Cabbage (sold out) for the outside and peppered cotton for the lining and strap. She has a pleated large pocket which is closed with Velcro and a double small pocket with a snap tab closure.
L learned to use new techniques with this bag. She did buttonholes for the first time and she did it on a machine with a 4-step buttonhole!! L also did a great job topstitching and finishing all her seams.
Great Job L!
